TRUNK SALE NEWS

         It’s that time again and we are excited to announce that we have two great trunk sales lined up! In case you don’t know the term, a trunk sale is an event where one of our vendors comes and sets up inside our store, enabling you to choose from a vast array of wonderful beads! We host these events several times a year and these two companies have by far been the most popular.                                                                                  

         Our first sale is with CherryTree Beads on Friday & Saturday, November 21^st & 22^nd.  Cherry Tree Beads is a large and leading gemstone bead company. Bill and Bebe Edwards will bring a huge selection of great quality gemstone beads from the ordinary to the incredible! Cherry Tree also sells the beautiful short strands of gemstones, glass, pewter beads and findings, pendants and more. There will be plenty for every taste and budget!            

      Then on Friday & Saturday, December 12^th & 13^th we will be hosting another trunk sale with April Melody Glass Beads.   April brings an enormous selection of glass beads and also carries interesting pendants and pieces from around the world.      These two sales are very different from each other and you will find great things at both. They do have one thing in common - both of these companies will transform our store into an even bigger beader’s fantasy!

NEW UPTOWN ART HOP!!

            We have been working with some of the other art and nature related businesses in the neighborhood to create a quarterly “Art Hop”. Our first event will be Friday evening, November 21^st, from 6-9 pm. Participating businesses will extend their hours, serve refreshments and many will be featuring artists and have other special things to offer.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                         

         The participating merchants for this first Hop is Millhopper Square (Gifts of Avalon, Alternatives, Hanks Fiber & Yarns, The Artisans Guild & Wild Birds Ultd), Market Place (D’Lites) and Thorne-brook (Thornebrook Gallery, Lost Art Gallery, McIntyre Stained Glass Studios, Bead All About It, DoArt, & Painted Table)            

      For our part we will be having our trunk sale with Cherry Tree Beads, lampwork artist demonstrations by Jay Mciver of Designs by J, refreshments and prizes. GO VINTAJ

            Join us for an afternoon demonstration and find your creative inspiration using the Vintaj 100% Natural Brass findings. Trude will be demonstrating how to wrap the filigree findings around stone and glass pieces during our Holiday Open House, Saturday, December 6^th, at 3 p.m. There will also be time for you to try your hand at it with Trude’s assistance!                                                                                                                                                    

            Vintaj findings have a rich distinctive vintage brass color, and intricate detail. Many of these pieces are quite malleable and can easily be shaped, sculpted and wrapped to create a unique pendant.                            

            Using an eco-friendly process, Vintaj Brass is not antique plated or chemically treated and is nickel free. Vintaj findings have been featured in Simply Beads, Stringing, Beads Unique and other publications and their popularity is growing. They are quickly becoming a big seller at the bead shows where we vend.

WHAT’S NEW?

            This time of year it would probably be easier to list what isn’t new! We are stocking up in all areas of the store and much of it has already arrived!     We have lots of new gemstones – from the earthy jaspers to the delicate quartzes we are stocked up! The fine gemstone case has been given a face lift too! Also, lots and lots of pearls!                    

         Seedbeads have also been arriving and we have also added a new line – size 11/0 charlottes! What’s a charlotte? It’s a seedbead with one facet on each bead. So it sparkles a little. Not glitzy like the 3 cuts, but just a hint of a glitz!!                       

         We have  lots of new gemstone pendants, art glass pieces and ojime’ beads. Ojime’s are the beautifully carved wooden beads from Japan. They are adorable – and there are a couple of gators in the bunch so hurry in!                   

         Make sure you check out our sale table just to the right when you come in. There are lots of new things there too!

HOLIDAY GIFTS

 

Every year at this time we write a little piece in our newsletter about giving gifts for the holidays. In our 17 years there probably has never been a more appropriate time for this article.                                        

This year you may want to consider making some of your own gifts. We have beads and jewelry making supplies for every budget, and a gift from the heart would never be more welcome than this holiday season.                                            

We get a lot of joy ourselves when folks come in and make a beautiful piece of jewelry for their sweetie, a pair of earrings for a co-worker, or a suncatcher for a favorite teacher.                  

We encourage getting the kids involved, and we carry a lot of beads that are suitable for them to make their own presents for their friends.                                                It’s what sets us apart from other stores. We invite you to come in and experience the joy for yourselves! We have a work table set up and tools for your use. We never charge a fee for using our space and we are available for some assistance if needed.                 

We also have bead kits available for the little beaders in your life. They make great stocking stuffers – and what better gift is there than a gift of creativity?
