It’s almost time again for our annual store clearance sale! What better way to help us through August than a big sale plus double punches on your Gifts of Avalon punch card!! Every strand of gems, glass, seedbeads and naturals will be on sale. Also tools and supplies, jewelry, and gifts items too. Lots of items will be marked down to clear out! Avalon Newsletter Going Paperless!!
In an effort to save on costs and be ‘greener’, we will be moving over to an email only system for our newsletter and occasional reminders on sales and events. We won’t be totally cutting out the mailing of our newsletter until January 2011, be we are encouraging everyone to change over as soon as conveniently possible.
You can make the switch by calling us, emailing us or signing up at the store. If you email us, put ‘address switch’ in the subject line so we’re sure to catch it. If you are already receiving emails then you don’t need to do anything!
Also, if anyone is unable to receive emails, and would like to continue receiving the newsletter, let us know and we will make special provisions for you. Thanks so much for your help in making this a smooth transition!
On a related note, we are now working on a complete overhaul of our website. Within the next month our new look should be up and running! There will be new features, including online class sign-up, and ways to be more interactive with all of you! There should be no interruption between our current website and the new one. We look forward to hearing what you think about the new site!

Summer is a great time for crafting. Whether you are looking for something ‘cool’ to do with your children, or wanting to get a head start on holiday gifts, we always have a place for you to come and work here at the store. We don’t charge a studio fee and we are available to help you attach your clasp or put together a basic earring. Larger groups should call ahead to make sure we have space available.
WHAT’S NEW?
We often get asked “what’s the best way to clean jewelry?” That can be a tricky question, because some chemicals might be good for your silver, but not the gems that are strung with it. Beadsmith has come out with a new product called ‘Precious Liquid Jewelry Cleaner’. This is a cleaner that is formulated for precious metals as well as gems. We’ve been using it here at the store for the last couple of weeks and it works great!
Just spray it on your piece, wait 30-60 seconds, use a soft toothbrush to get in between places if needed, rinse and dry with a soft cloth.
This cleaner is good on most gems and precious metals. For pearls, a soft toothbrush with a little toothpaste works well.
